In ancient cultures, marjoram was known as a symbol of joy and happiness. It has a calming and positive effect on the nervous and immune systems. “Wintersweet”, as it was known, is related to Oregano, and is commonly used to flavor stews and other dishes. You may even have it in your spice cupboard today.
But did you know marjoram essential oils is very soothing to achy, painful muscles, joints, tendons, and cartilage? It can be applied NEAT (without dilution), unless for a small child or someone with sensitive skin. Or it can be combined with other soothing oils to create the perfect blend for just the issue you’re addressing.
I personally know folks who are dealing with that “old, achy joints” problem that is so common as we age – and they swear by Marjoram in their blends. Other recommendations are to massage it into the back of your neck to relieve tension, or to apply to the bottoms of a fussy child’s feet just before naptime.
