doTERRA’s Tangerine Essential Oil

doTERRA’s Tangerine Essential Oil is sweet and tangy and uplifting.  It’s a favorite among the citrus oils.  It’s known for its cleansing properties, its positive affect on mood and emotions, as well as its ability to support stress management and digestion.

Tangerine Essential Oil is cold-compressed from the rind of the fruit.  It’s an amazing flavoring for baked goods, beverages and any recipe calling for citrus.

How Our Family Uses Tangerine

Until now, Tangerine Essential Oil was only available as special incentives, or as part of a seasonal bundle.  Now, as of August 1, 2017, you can purchase Tangerine Oil year-round, with no quantity limits.  A 15mL bottle is $15 (wholesale), and contains approximately 250 drops.

There are three ways to use essential oils:

Aromatically – Tangerine pairs especially well with mints (Spearmint or Peppermint), other citrus oils (Lime or Bergamot), or warm spicy oils (Cassia or Clove).  Experiment and find the combinations you like!

Topically – I love to apply diluted Tangerine Essential Oil to my wrists to help lift my mood and energize me in mid-afternoon.  You can also put a drop in your palms, rub them together and inhale the aroma.  Just be careful exposing skin to the sun after applying any citrus oils, as most of them are photosensitive.  Read more about that here.

Be sure to use this Dilution Chart  to make sure you are using safe amounts.  Children, Babies, and folks with sensitive skin will need to start with more diluted amounts.

Internally – One of my favorite uses for this delicious oil is to put a couple of drops in my glass of water.  Very refreshing, and benefits my digestive system at the same time!  Tangerine is also wonderful for flavoring the icing on homemade cinnamon rolls, fruit dip, or the egg coating on french toast!  Read more ideas for using essential oils in baking here.

(Never ingest any essential oil if you aren’t absolutely sure of the purity.  I trust only doTERRA for internal use.  Hint: doTERRA oils with a nutrition facts panel on the label are safe for ingesting.)
